Shinkansen: Countdown "is an action crime film directed by Shinji Higuchi, written by Kazuhiro Nakagawa and Gongmu Ohta, starring Masamune Kusanagi, Yoshinobu Hosoda, Rena Nene, Yurun Yoritomo, Makiko Ono, Hana Toyoshima, and Kudo Saito.
The film is a remake of the 1975 movie "Shinkansen Bombing" and tells the story of an emergency phone call from the Shinkansen control center. The caller claims to have placed a bomb on the Hayabusa 60 train bound for Tokyo and demanded a sky high ransom of 100 billion yen, otherwise the train would explode at a speed below 100 kilometers per hour, pushing railway personnel to the brink of a race against death.
